For comparative purposes we have included data that we had for the Fidelity Magellan Fund and the S&P 500.  From 1995 to 2000, for charting purposes (and until we get accurate data) we have simply given them the same returns as the SMC.
The returns for the Madgellan Fund and the SP-500 show why there is such frustration among investors who have, in many cases “riden out” the two major market calamaties over the past 10 yrs, by remaining fully invested during those periods. For those investors who started in 2005, 2006, or 2007, there is sore disappointment. In their case, they didn’t have the appreciation from 2003 and 2004 to “absorb” some of the losses.
However, we do believe that you can learn to grow your own money. It is important to start with a start capital that is entirely discretionary, which means that it is money that you can afford to lose (all of it). Remember, where there is work being done, mistakes are made. It is unwise and inaccurate to think that you will not make mistakes.
